Saturday night, Bismarck defeated the Mandan boys 55-44, while Century defeated the Mandan girls 51-47. Earlier in the day, Williston beat Century 66-42 and Dickinson defeated St. Mary's 56-42 in the boys state qualifying games, while Bismarck knocked off St. Mary's 68-34 and Dickinson topped Williston 53-39 in the girls state qualifying games.

The lineup for Thursday's first round action at the State Tournament in Fargo is shown below - Good Luck to all West Region teams!!

BISMARCK WELCOMES THE WEST REGION
BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

This year marks the third year of the combined West Region Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Tournament. This is the second year that the tournament will be held in three days on two floors.

As you can see by the schedule below, Thursday and Friday of the tournament will consist of a single session on each floor.

On Thursday, the girls’ first round will be played in the Exhibit Hall starting at 2:00 p.m. with the boys’ first round played in the Civic Arena starting at 3:00 p.m.

Friday’s schedule in the Exhibit Hall starts with the boys’ consolation semi-finals, followed by the girls’ consolation semi-finals. The semi-finals for the girls will lead off Friday’s action in the Civic Arena followed by the boys’ semi-finals.

On Saturday, play goes to one floor–the Civic Arena. The semifinal losers will cross bracket and take on the consolation winners in loser out games with the girls playing at 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., followed by the boys squaring off at 3:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. The winners of the loser out games will be seeded into the state tournament, as the West’s number three and number four seeds based on regular season standings (unless they met in the tournament in which case the winner of that game will be seeded #3 and the loser #4).

The girls’ and boys’ regional championships are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. respectively. Below is a breakdown of the West Region schedule.

Two floors will be used at the Bismarck Civic Center–one in Exhibit Hall B and one in the Civic Arena. The tournament will be played with the following schedule.
