This year marks the seventh year of the combined West Region Girls’ and Boys’
Basketball Tournament. This is the sixth year that the tournament will be held in three days on two floors. On Thursday, the girls’ first round will be played in the Exhibit Hall starting at 2:00 p.m. with the boys’ first round played in the Civic Arena starting at 3:00 p.m. Friday’s schedule in the Exhibit Hall starts with the boys’ consolation semi-finals, followed by the girls consolation semi-finals. The semi-finals for the girls will lead off Friday’s action in the Civic Arena followed by the boys’ semi-finals. On Saturday, play goes to one floor–the Civic Arena. The semifinal losers will cross bracket and take on the consolation winners in loser out games with the girls playing at 11:00 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., followed by the boys squaring off at 2:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. The winners of the loser out games will be seeded into the state tournament, as the West’s number three and number four seeds based on regular season standings (unless they met in the tournament in which case the winner of that game will be seeded #3 and the loser #4). The girls’ and boys’ regional championships are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. respectively.
